6X exhaust / outlet valves & 6x intake / inlet valves made by genuine Alfa Romeo supplier IVAM. The highest italian quality for valves. The STELLITE deposit on the SEAT of the valve is made to reduce oxidation and corrosion to a minimum. This special alloy of tungsten carbide increases considerably the life of the valve, and it is especially recommended for high performance or lead free petrol engines.
It is a STELLITE deposit on the TIP of the valve, utilized for austenitic steels (where it is impossible to otherwise harden). The use of a satellite tip is to reduce tip end wear.
CHROMIUM PLATING is a superficial treatment which consists in a uniform electrolytic deposit of chrome onto the stem of the valve. It assists operating conditions and increases wear resistance between the valve and the valve guide.
LAPPING or burnishing is to reduce uneven stem surface and consequently wear. By this treatment the valve stem also acquires compactness and hardness.
It is particularly suitable where bronze guides are used.
NITRIDING is a thermal total immersion in salt type bath, offering the valve extra antigrip and scuff properties. Nitriding is a surface hardening ensuring that the core of valve retains the original mechanical steel properties.
