Trade Beads are just plain gorgeous. When you hold one in your hand, you want to keep it. The colors are as amazing and fresh as the day they were produced.
* Trade Beads have value for three reasons: their historical value, as reminders of a time in the distant past--from the 1600's on--when there was a thriving trade in commodities, including people, with the Trade Beads as a medium of exchange. Also a representation of the era of the city state, when Venice, a dominant power, secretly guarded the technique for making glass beads, and produced what have come to be known as"African Trade Beads" for export. They remained in West Africa, and continued to be a medium of exchange locally for some time--another facet of their rich history.
Used or antique objects are in good condition consistent with their age and sold as is.
