Description
What a Beauty! This vintage Alfred Angelo gown
of Guipure Lace
is breath taking..
Designed by Edythe Vincent for
Alfred Angelo. (husband and wife team)
in the late 1960s to early 1970s I estimate.
This gown is a column shape
with a floating Guipure lace bodice overlay
with a row of satin back buttons,
a long hidden back zipper,
sheer scarf wrapped waist,
and long Guipure lace skirt over three layers
of lining.
The Guipure lace is a gorgeous,
a large tatted open lace that connects
via strands in the design rather
than by mesh or netting.. Guipure Lace
can cost up to 0 per yard or more.
THe design in the lace is so pretty with
rows of flowers and leaves.. there are two
styles of flower rows that alternate: a snowflake type
flower and a spirograph type. The lining ends just
short of the hem, so the last row of flowers
at the hem stand out.
The lace is
an ivory cream color.
Under the lace is a super-fine
netting over white
satin layer. The final bottom lining layer is
cotton. The triple layer lining is
a bit stiff to keep the column shape
of the dress skirt.
This dress is in excellent condition. The only
flaw I find approx 4 inches of the lining seam, near the hem
has come undone.
Sizing and Measurements:
for reference, this dress is shown on a
mannequin that measures 33-24-34 and it
was a pretty good fit.
Measurements indicate an approx size 4 dress
bust, 17.5" across seam to seam.
waist, 13.5" seam to seam

56" length
